Mercy Killing - Right or Wrong.

Mercy Killing is a topic which has been discussed and everyone have their views.

Today a 42year old Coma patient died and I feel what was the whole Idea of giving indirect and direct pain by keeping someone alive for 42 year old in a state which is as good as dead.

"Aruna Shanbaug, the former nurse at Mumbai’s King Edward Memorial hospital, who was sexually assaulted by a hospital ward boy in Protected content , died on Monday morning after being in a coma for the past 42 years.

Shanbaug, the 68-year-old, was in the Intensive Care unit of the hospital, where she had worked and was raped. Doctors had said that Shanbaug was suffering from pneumonia and was on ventilator support."

n January Protected content , the Supreme Court had responded to the plea for euthanasia filed by Aruna’s friend and journalist Pinki Virani, by setting up a medical panel to examine her. The court turned down the mercy killing petition, saying the hospital employees were “taking excellent care of her and want her to live”.

I feel she should have been off ventilator long time back giving her and the family peace . Because it is all the more painful for someone and there loved ones to go through such mental agony.

Do you all believe in such state the patient should be removed out of the ventilator and given her the right for mercy killing.
