Migrating To Japan !

Hello Folks!
I am writing this thread to get some valuable inputs or suggestions from people who have lived in Japan or are the residents of Japan. I will be moving to Tokyo city which no doubt is an expensive city to live. Please guide me if you know about any cheap hostels or shared accommodations available in Tokyo. Further I would be very happy if i could find any active forum of internations available in Tokyo. It won't be an easy task to make friends there due to the language barrier, so finding few friends to communicate and to get to know the place would be awesome. So any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
