Moving to Switzerland !

Hi everyone! I'm from USA , and i'm planning to move with my family in Switzerland ( Zurich) permanently, in 2 years. Can someone please explain me how's life there? I'm not interested in getting a Swiss citizenship , but i would like to know how to get a work permit ( and how long do i have to wait until i can get it) . I would like to know everything that has to be known before i move there. ( economy, house prices ...) . Thank you!
