New kid on the block!

Hi, everyone!

Firstly I will start by introducing myself. My name is Daniel, I am 20 years old. I currently work in a fast food restaurant and have done for the past 4 years. As you can imagine this is becoming very boring for me so I thought "hey why not travel the world". Travelling to new places and meeting new people is something I really enjoy!

I am asking for a little help from you guys, as I am the new kid on the block. What sort of stuff would you recommend taking when travelling around the world? Preferably backpacking. What is the best way to start out?

I plan to do some volunteer work in the countries I visit to earn my stay so I don't just blow all my money straight away.
