We are currently seeking a Head Midwife to join our hospital.
Is in charge of managing the Maternity Ward and Delivery Suite with oversight of the midwifery services in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) consultation rooms.
Works with the O&G Head of Department and the Head of Paediatrics on the relevant patient care.
Supervises and co-ordinates midwifery nursing activities performed by the midwives and nursery nurse
Ensures compliance to standards of good patient care, safety and infection control practices
Manages department resources: rostering and staffing plan, making annual budget anticipating demands in term of human resources, equipments, and other supplies. Manages assigned stocks in department .Manages departmental assets.
Coordinates with NICU and OT and the in-patient wards to ensure continuity of care.
Takes part in Head Nurse On-call duty.
Participates and conducts birth preparation classes for pregnant women
Educates the new mother on breastfeeding
Participates in creation of midwifery nursing policies and procedures.
Adheres to and enforces staffs’ compliance with established policies and procedures, recommends corrective action as necessary
Enhances knowledge of staffs through conducting on-the-job training in coordination with Head of Department, Nursing Trainer & Clinical Instructor
Participates in interview and evaluation of midwives.
Provide supportive counseling to patients if necessary.
Participates in weekly Nursing Committee meeting and other meetings when required.
Reports to the Nursing Director on all issues mentioned above
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Midwifery
Further degree in nursing management desired
Required Licensure, Certification
Midwifery Nursing Professional License is compulsory
Nursing Management Certificate desired
Minimum 5 years work experience as Midwife
Work experience in Management as Team Leader or Deputy
Has good working knowledge of midwifery practices
Good human resource management skills
Familiarity with JCI standards highly desirable
Communication skills (speaking and writing) in English
Leadership and Accountability
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Good and effective communication skills
Able to manage conflicts encountered with staff.
Able to interact well with doctors, colleagues and subordinates
Package is depend on experience, circa Protected content per month with allowances.
