Place to stay in Rome

I would really appreciate it, if anybody could recommend a nice place to stay in Rome in the middle of September? We are going there for the first time and would like to see as much as we can. Therefore, we're looking for a nice place close to the most interesting places within Protected content per night for seven nights. Any advice on the upcoming trip is also much appreciated. Thank you.
