Please sign the 5G space appeal

The past few decades have seen the proliferation of wireless technologies, especially since the smartphone was invented. These technologies have changed the world in many ways. Unfortunately, they have also created a huge and growing burden of ill-health, and they are literally decimating nature.

The radiation from wireless technologies--cell towers, Wi-Fi, communications satellites and the devices themselves--is currently classified by the WHO/IARC as a possible human carcinogen, and this classification my soon be upgraded. There are over 25,000 peer-reviewed, scientific studies showing that this radiation causes cancer, endocrine dysfunction, infertility, heart problems, DNA damage, neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, and more.

It is not only people that are affected by this radiation. Insect populations are down by 75% in Europe, with similar figures in other parts of the world. We may not like insects, but we can't survive without them--especially pollinators. Birds are declining rapidly, and Birdlife International estimates that one in eight bird species globally is now threatened or endangered, even birds that were once common or numerous. In Europe, that figure is one in five bird species. Other species like amphibians, small mammals and even plants are also being affected.

Having proceeded rapidly from 2G (the first generation of digital wireless technology) to 4G LTE (broadband wireless technology) we are now on the cusp of 5G, which will bring driverless cars and the Internet of Things. However, 5G will not work as intended unless millimeter wave frequencies used for this technology can be delivered globally, by satellite, onto literally every corner of the earth. This technology could bring about global disaster, both in terms of the health effects on the human population and in terms of its effects on nature. It is expected that 5G frequencies will especially target insects, including vital pollinators such as bees.

I ask each and every one of you to read the 5G Space Appeal, which contains a great deal of information and many links to studies and articles, to find out more about this crucial issue. I ask each and every one of you to sign the appeal, and to pass it on to others so that they can sign it as well.
