Just how much information is floating around about us on the internet, true and/or false? How do we protect ourselves from stalkers, identity thieves, and spam?

Recently, I found out that someone is sending out emails in my name, and using my address in the headers. I used to think that all PR is good PR but, hey, this pushes the envelope, hehe!
