PROCEDURES FOR EX PAT WHO DIES IN GERMANY

Hello...I apologize for the morbid title, but the saying goes..."nothing is sure except death and taxes". My father is a Canadian expat (and vet) living in Germany. He has explained where things are about funeral home docs and other paperwork which needs to be done. What I would like to know is this: my father made his Last Will and Testament here in Edmonton. How much does that affect any German procedures as far as assets, translation of documents, etc. Any help would really be appreciated....I haven't slept in 2 weeks going over and over all the items....my dear father is 90 and I want know and do everything per his wishes.
