Release the Darfuri Activists and Human Rights Defenders in the detentions of Sudan government

As a continuation of the arbitrary arrests and threats that the Sudanese government exercising to intimidate the activists and human rights defenders in Sudan and Darfur in especial, the Sudanese government's intelligence and security service arrested 14 of Darfuri human rights activists in Khartoum from 30 October to 2 November Protected content . The arrests, threats and abductions by the Sudan government against the human rights defenders, journalists and the opposition/political parties are widely operated since the Khartoum regime claimed to the power up to date, the practice of these intimidation tools is increased more since the war broke out in Darfur. The government used all kinds of threats notably the arrests, directs threats, torture and killing as weapons in order to keep its power.

Meanwhile, the bombing and air strikes of the Sudan government's antonovs and Helicopters over the civilians and villages in Darfur are still executing, the Sudan government and its allied militia Janjaweed and army forces are widely exercising the massive individual and collective killing against the civilians from African indigenous groups in Darfur, including raping of the women and girls and burning the villages since Protected content the war erupted in Darfur.

In Protected content the ICC's announcement of the arrest warrant of al-Bashir, the Sudanese intelligence and security service were executed widely arrests operations, threats and harassment against the human rights defenders in Sudan, those operations caused the flee of over 10 famous human rights defenders and journalists to the other countries seeking for protection.

The operations were intended to kick out the human rights defenders who are monitoring the human rights violations in Darfur and Sudan and to reduce intentionally the field monitoring operation lack the monitors and coverage of human rights violations so as to let them continue the committing of the crimes over the region, the government was also expelled 13 international aid organization were operating in the camps and closed down three human rights organizations.

The arrests also included the camps leaders and local community servers in the camps in Darfur, the activists and human rights defenders who were arrested in last October and November are:

Protected content . Kauthar Abdul Haq Muhammad, 35 years, she was arrested in the office of MAAN organization (MAAN refers to: Together for Peace and Non-violence) - near the Qurashi park in central Khartoum on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content Manal Mohamed Adam, 27 years, from Kotom - North Darfur, she was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Madam: Aziza Ali Idris, 26 years from El Geneina -West Darfur, she was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Aisha Sharif Sardou, 30 years, from El Fasher - North Darfur, she was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Abdul Rahman Mohammed Abu al-Qasim Lawyer, 45 years, from Toluos - South Darfur, he is the Legal Assistance Officer of The Darfur Bar Association (DBA) and the head of training, he married with 3 children, Mr. Abu al-Gassim suffers from heart disease and chest infections, he is one of the most famous personalities in the legal work to defend human and civil rights in Sudan. He was arrested in Alsouq al-Arabi (the Central Khartoum) on October 30, Protected content .

Drar Adam Drar Kidanah, 28 years, from wadi Hawar- North Darfur, he is graduate of Nilien University - Former Secretary General of the Association of Wadi Howar Students in the Sudanese universities, he is currently a master student at the University of Juba. He is the younger brother of Mr Abdul Shakoor Adam Dirar Kidanah, the lawyer who was arrested with his family in Protected content spent several months by the NISS then lately released without charge. Mr Drar was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Abdul Rahman Adam Abdul Rahman, 33 years from Al Daein - South Darfur, he is married and has one child. Mr Adam is working for the Radio Dabanga (the only one radio that broadcasts the daily news on the ongoing war and genocide that are taking place in Darfur since Protected content , the radio based in Netherlands, Mr Adam suffers from a heart and other chronic diseases, and he was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Khalid Ishaq Mohammad Yusuf, 29 years, from Nyala- South Darfur,he was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Zakaria Yagoub, 34 years, from El Geneina, he is currently residing in Khartoum.

Protected content . Ibrahim Adam, 23 years, from Nyala- North Darfur, he was arrested in the office of the MAAN organization on October 30, Protected content .

Protected content . Ibrahim Abu Jaafar Subki Protected content , from Um Kaddada - North Darfur, he is a journalist in Al-Sahafa Newspaper, he was arrested from the press offices of the newspaper in Khartoum on November 3, Protected content .

The authorities did not knowledge the reasons of the arrests and the whereabouts of the detainees. additionally their families and their lawyers are not accessed to them till today, I therefore call up on you, individuals, collectives, organizations and intergovernmental agencies that advocate and concern on the human rights protection to join the efforts by signing petitions, organizing campaigns or writing letters to the Sudanese government to release those human rights activists or to bring them to the trail

Meanwhile, one year and half passed since sheikhs and omdas(community leaders) of two Darfuri camps were arrested and jailed. The leaders of Al Salaam and Abu Shouk camps are being held in the Sudanese government intelligence and security service’s cells at Shalla Prison in El Fasher.

- Calling on the authorities to release all those detained or bring them to the trial if there are charges against them.
- Urging the authorities to disclose the names and whereabouts of all those detained.
- Urging the authorities to allow those detainees to access to the lawyer as well as family visits.
