Religion: Myth or Reality

Dear All,

I wish to discuss with you one of the most debated topics - Religion. I am very interested in reading your answers, as I believe that there is no better place / forum to discuss this than InterNations, which brings together expatriates from all parts of the World. I take this opportunity to kindly request all of you to respect each other’s opinion.

Wikipedia defines religion as “a collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values.” It also says that “Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the universe. They tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle from their ideas about the cosmos and human nature. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world”.

Would you mind sharing your current view / thoughts on this subject.
