Repatriate Expectations and Turnover

Have you completed one or more international assignments during your career? If so, what were your expectations for your post-assignment career success? In my eyes, this topic is really interesting, because a huge number of repats seem to leave their home company shortly after their re-entry. Unmet expectations seem to play a big role for the turnover. What do you think?
