Speakers of Maori required.

Appen, a language technology company is looking for native speakers of Maori, with good knowledge of written Maori for flexible or full-time home-based role. The project is an exciting and challenging opportunity to help develop world-class linguistic software.

Main duties include:
• Data annotation
• Test data creation
• Creation of seed word list for web-based data
• Comfortable in the use of GUI tools
• Tagging/annotation.
• Linguistic validation.
• Use of simple command line and GUI tools.
• Tagging/annotation/test set creation
• running of automated test sets
• regression testing
• Linguistic validation
• Use of simple command line and GUI tools.

• Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major in a language-related discipline, such as linguistics, computational linguistics, language teaching, translation, or technical writing
• Native speaker of Maori (Strong native language competency.)
• High proficiency in English
• Good knowledge of orthographic variation, punctuation, language reforms.
• Excellent technical skills - agile user of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail

• Professional background in language teaching, translation or editorial/proofreading work.
• Familiarity with command line or GUI tools.
