Tax

I am a long term, probably permanent expat (American living in Britain). For the last three years, I've had income in both the US and UK. This has made my tax situation complicated and expensive. Are there any other Americans living in the UK who have had trouble finding accountants who would do this without charging three or four times the usual fee for doing a tax return? I am now looking for a third new accountant in three years. The first one nearly got me fined by the IRS. The last one made promises about keeping cost down that weren't kept--in fact generated a much bigger bill than the last one--and the communication was unreliable at best. There must be some down to earth, efficient accountants out there--can anyone recommend one?
