Tax Equalization

My employer is sending me to Austria for an indefinite assignment, so I will be liable to pay taxes there. Apparently, my tax status will be "equalized" so I don't end up paying higher tax rates in Vienna. Is anyone else "tax-equalized"?
I'd like to hear from anyone who is, to explain how it works.
