The IOT/the society under surveillance..4 good?

A lot of concerns related to surveillance of governmental aparatus over common people brings questions about the right to privacy and thus the right to think and been different. However, with the advent of the IOT the internet of things, which means that every single device would be connected to internet in order to give more sophisticated and benefitial functions, that privacy seems to fade away. In a close future, from cars to refrigerators, are going to be connected to the internet generaring unthinkable amounts of data of their owners, data that is going to be used to customized the experience of those owners. So the perspective is the more the web knows you the better service and experience you get. In this scenario, how bad can be sharing this info with governmental departments, in a sense that we already will be willing to upload our data to the web?
