Top tips for visiting the 'stans?

Hey folks,
We are looking at a 14 day trip into central asia, so we can see the 'stans.
Does anyone have top tips or hints for visiting:
* Kazakhstan
* Kyrgyzstan
* Tajikistan
* Turkmenistan
* Uzbekistan
We will be heading there in late April.
