Trip to Holland end of June to July

Just wondering to all those who've been to Amsterdam/Holland, how long is long enough to enjoy the city without rushing around trying to see all the tourist attractions? Is 10 days enough or am I over-staying? I guess there would be many opportunities for day trips?? Any ideas? What are the must-sees?
Any input would be helpful. Thanks!
