US political concerns in Europe

I am an American currently living in Thailand after a long relationship might be moving to Germany bc of a possible job transfer. I am not sure for how long I would be in Germany , but it seems long term. A concern I have is how the political outcome is, or will, affect me when I am in Germany. Do any of you feel as if you will be affected by US politics as expats? I guess I'm just looking for some perspective on how people view the political situation oustide the borders of American media.
