What caught your attention?

Hi everybody,
I have just landed both in Braunschweig and in Internations website and, as a newcomer in a new country, I have found things that caught my attention, not always in a positive way. I imagine that all of us have had this experience and, I would like to know what has been what caught your attention the most, when you put your feet in a new country. In my case, one of the things that shocked me was to see how there were wasps and bees flying around cakes and bread in the bakeries and patisseries, with the acquiescence of everybody (customers included). And, in a positive way, I have noticed that the portions of meal here, are quite big.
What is what caught your attention the most when do you arrive to a new city?
