What did you do with your US cell phonee number?

Hi,
Now that I'm abroad a lot, I don't need my cell phone anymore. But I'd like to
forward calls to another number.
Thus, I'm paying for service that I'm not using.
I'm wondering if there is a cell phone storage service that will hold your cell number
and forward calls to another number.
Ideas?
