What do you like about travelling?

For some of us the holidays are over, for the others they will be over in ten days. The prospect of coming home made me think about the phenomenon of travelling. What is so special and fascinating about journeys? Why do we appreciate the experience of leaving “home” and going somewhere else so much? What are your favourite films or books describing the experience of travelling?
