Working in Columbia

I'm a single Aussie girl, thinking about taking 6 months off and moving to Columbia to learn Spanish and settle into the community to enjoy a different culture. The reason I have picked Columbia is that I have a friend who's parents live in Bogota so that could be a good place to start, but I'm open to other suggestions! I just need a break from my job and life here and I think this would be an amazing experience.

My questions are - does anyone know how easy it is to get a working visa? I'm in my early 30's so I'm not sure if that means there are any restrictions. I have contacted the Columbian embassy in Australia but am still waiting on a response. Has anyone here had any good/bad experiences with Columbia? Any hints/tips/warnings on where to go and what to do?

Thanks!
