Today, International Herald Tribune carries an article "IOC agrees to permit Beijing to censor Web," though IOC president Jacques Rogge proclaimed to Agence France-Presse two weeks ago: "For the first time, foreign media will be able to report freely and publish their work freely in China. There will be no censorship on the Internet."

Beijing also confirmed the Internet will be censored during the upcoming Games, contrary to its earlier assurance.

A preliminary test by "Open Net Initiative" that is run by Harvard, Cambridge and Univ of Toronto showed that at least Protected content websites including BBC Chinese language site are blocked at the Olympic media center. One could imagine how severe the censorship is outside this Olympic media center.

Who is fooling around, IOC, Beijing, or the rest of the world? Thoughts, anyone?
