Addiction Recovery - anyone need this in Zurich?

I have recently been struggling with a substance addiction, but I’m not talking about something life threatening or even noticeable to those around me. I started back into an old habit when the Covid plandemic surfaced and lockdowns occurred. I had been living in both the US and Switzerland for 4 years before that. I couldn't get back to the US to see my kids. Now, I live in Zurich only. I had to close an office I ran for 10 years in Houston and an office I had by the Paradaplatz in Protected content , 2020. I have a small business developing websites and the lockdowns decreased our income by about 55% in Protected content . We’ve had a better year this year, almost back on track, but all of the political changes that are swiftly taking place globally honestly don't seem like they are in the best interest of humanity.

I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I got slightly off track and I’m trying to get back to normal. I tried NA/AA to combat my addiction and those programs just aren't for me. Way too hard core. When I was younger, these programs helped me understand addiction, but I don't agree that I'm addicted to everything. I like having a beer at the end of the day at home to relax, for example. Because of this, I have been working with a private counselor to discuss my struggles. He feels the same way that I do about addiction, that NA/AA are somewhat rigid. I do believe that those programs are helpful for people that have a life-threatening substance or alcohol addiction, or for people that are addicted to all substances.

So my counselor suggested that I start up an addiction recovery group. Would anyone be interested in this?

It would be a Christian approach for men and women. We would all help each other recover, like NA/AA, but we would be grounded in healthy community and prayer. For close counseling, men would mentor men and women would mentor women. I have done this before. I had been involved in an addiction / recovery group at a 5,000 member church in Houston. I helped by playing praise and worship songs at the start of the group, then helping members get started in the discussions of their addictions. Anyone with any kind of addiction could be a part of the group. For example, overeating, substance abuse, pornography, etc. I’ve also been a part of different ministries for over 20 years and helped start up a few churches in Houston. I’m currently part of Sister Ariana’s homeless food line in the evenings in the Longstrasse area by the railway, close to Google’s offices. I have a degree in Psychology and have helped people through ministry work since I graduated.

If this is something you need or feel that you would like to be a part of, please reach out to me. The group could also cover discussions about life’s problems, offering a group / collective counseling approach for solving them, and some accountability for following through via the built-in community of the group. I have some ideas and I think that this ministry will be accepted globally. I believe this is the start of something really big.

Please contact me if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you.
