There’s no doubt about it: Bergen is very much deserving of its nickname as the “Gateway to the Fjords”. The former capital is a charming city known for the colorful Hanseatic Bryggen houses which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a comparatively mild climate, its busy Bergen Port which sees numerous cruise and freight ships, and much more! With the buses and light-rail services operated by Skyss, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in neighborhoods less frequented by tourists, which are short ride or drive away from Bergen’s center.
