We're looking for a new full-time chef to join our team!

Our restaurant, Tortilla Flats in Vejle, Denmark, opened its doors in Protected content . At that time, we were one of a new-started franchise, and we ran it as a family business, which it still is today. In Protected content , we got out of the franchise and since that day and have been 100% independent and privately owned. The name, however, is copyrighted by the franchise in Denmark. We have permission to use it.

We are the oldest restaurant in our city, Vejle (population ca 60. Protected content serve about 50.000 guests each year. We offer á la carte dining, take-away, catering and events. At present, we have 32 employees, many of which are part-time and students. Our kitchen staff is a rather young team with two educated chefs and a team of assistants and dishwashers, who also help the assistants. One of our owners is also involved in the kitchen, and has been since we opened.

Our success for almost 37 years can be attributed to our very stable quality, as well as a high level of service and a unique ambience in our dining area. Many of our guests are ‘returning customers’, who know what they want and expect. Being an ethnic restaurant, we are used to training all new employees in our style of food preparation, regardless of their previous experience.

Meanwhile, the original owners are looking at retirement, and the second generation, the two brothers, Dan Patrick and Don Sebastian, are gradually taking over the business. The new generation has the aim of expanding the concept and lifting the culinary levels, while maintaining the traditions and the core that have been a key to our success for several decades. This new aim is the main reason why we are seeking experienced chefs from foreign countries. We are prepared to make some exciting and interesting changes in our concept over the next Protected content .

For us to succeed with this new aim, we’re looking for energetic, trained and highly motivated chefs to join our team for a minimum of 3 years. We have been running with the same a la Carte menu more or less since we opened, and it is what allows us to serve more than 50.000 guest per year. Other than that we have a heavy production line before opening at 5PM every day, that allows us to serve as many people as possible in a very timely manner.

As a chef at Tortilla Flats in Vejle, you would primarily be working during the hours of 12PM-11PM, as you help us not only run a fast paced service, but also assist the new generation in innovating and taking our family business to the next level.

The restaurant is open 7 days per week, and at present, we do not serve breakfast or lunch, but only dinner. We are looking for employees that appreciate a positive work environment, where we support each other in a friendly manner. We are also interested in flexibility, that will allow the administration and staff the the freedom to experiment, research and travel. We see this company not only as a job, but as a life-style, and want all employees to feel that they can work, grow and thrive within the frames of Tortilla Flats in Vejle.

We have a very stable and reliable accounting firm that ensures that all paperwork is in complete order, up-to-date and on time. Any administrative problems that might arise are dealt with promptly and professionally.

Our accountants are responsible for the monthly wages and administration of the mandatory minimum 5-weeks of vacation according to Danish Law. The daily/weekly/monthly work schedules are made by our kitchen staff in close communication with the individual employees. Let me add: It is not uncommon for our staff to be celebrating 10 year anniversaries - some even at the age of 25.

We offer a full-time job with a full time wage but do not promise an exact number of hours each week. Flexibility and stability are of utmost importance for each of us, as individuals, as well as the smooth operation of our business.
