Non-citizen identification; needed at Kotoka? (Accra)

I am getting a bit nervous now that my time here in Ghana is short; we leave on Saturday to move back to the U.S. after having lived here for 12 years.

We, my children and I, have a resident visa that expires on June 25th Protected content . We leave on June 21st Protected content . We do not have the non-citizen identification card; my figuring is we are not staying past our renewal date so why spend the money.

Has anyone left the country who had a problem at Ghana Immigration at Kotoka?

That is my major worry -- the shakedown. I looked over the GIS website and see nothing about the mandatory usage for the identification card at the airport, but you know that that means nothing.

Has anyone had any experience with this at Kotoka? Thoughts?
