Conquest of the Aztec Empire - an Episode of Colonial History

In a follow-up to our last event on Columbus, Prof. Chew will take the narrative and analysis forward and conclude. While last we discussed Columbus, “the man with a plan,” its origins and implementation with the support of the Spanish Crown, we will now explore the early phase of Spanish New World colonization on the ground and their impact.

Prof. Chew shall review Hernan Cortez’s conquest of the Aztec Empire, an episode of colonial history known as the Conquistà.
After a short break, there is an opportunity to discuss the topic and raise questions.
Prof. William Chew is a historian, expert in American colonial history and retired professor at the Free University of Brussels.
