Guided Tour of Castle and Walk Around the Domain
Join us for a guided tour of the Protected content and the domain around the castle. A guide will be happy to show you around the most beautiful rooms of the castle and tell you more about the lives of the noble residents of yesteryears and about the eclectic architecture of the castle.
Protected content is a Flemish Renaissance style château in Heverlee. Built in place of a 12th century medieval castle, the current château was started in the 16th century but still underwent many changes in the following centuries. In Protected content , it passed into the hands of two noble families – first the Croÿs and then the Arenbergs.
The building is now owned by the Catholic University Leuven and houses the faculty of Engineering, department of Architecture, Urbanism and Urban Planning. The former Celestine monastery on the château grounds now houses the campus library.
