War journalist Rudi Vranckx selected impressive films and documentaries that shaped his career and his perspective on democracy.

The documentary "5 Seasons of Revolution" (1 hour 35m) shows how the hopes of the Arab Spring slowly turned to disappointment, but also how the struggle for freedom and autonomy leaves deep scars. Rudi Vranckx explains his choice and also shows excerpts from his own work that add an extra dimension to the subject.

Lina's plan is simple: to become a camerawoman. She loves capturing the little things in life and the people around her, especially on a sunny day in Damascus. But with the uprising in Syria, Lina's lens shifts its focus. It's not long before events escalate and Lina finds herself in dangerous situations. She's forced to use aliases like Maya and Lama and is drawn deeper and deeper into the fight for freedom and autonomy.
