This time we will leave the centre of Reading to follow the green corridor of the River Kennet to the old Fobney pumping station, and then explore Green Park.

Built near an old mill, where the Kennet and Avon canal, and River Kennet meet, Fobney pumping station opened in Protected content , and was closed in Protected content .

The Kennet and Avon canal was originally used to transport building materials for the Great Western Railway. Trains eventually took over from boats, and by the Protected content , efforts to restore it began and the Kennet and Avon was reopened in Protected content .

Green Park is a residential development of Reading, initially conceived as a business park. There is also a new railway station. The business park opened in Protected content . It currently comprises a central lake and wildlife habitat. The buildings provide office space for over 6,500 people.

The Madejski Stadium, home of Reading Football Club, adjoins Green Park. The Stadium provides the finish for the Reading Half Marathon. It was opened in Protected content .

We will meet at Protected content to walk towards Fobney pumping station. From there we will head to Green Park, and later we will reach Reading Gate, for lunch and drinks. Itsu options include Japanese sushi, salads and noodle dishes.

We will walk back to the city centre after a short visit to the exterior of the Madejski Stadium. We will have a drink &/or dinner at Protected content in Reading at around 5 pm.
