Christmas village: Sint-Martens-Latem by Ghent (Kerstdorp Latem)
The Christmas village ("Kerst Dorp") in Latem is open only one weekend and it is a kind of a Christmas market, but much nicer and more cosy, less commercial and much more familiar than the usual Christmas markets in big cities. It is worth to go there! There are shuttle buses going directly to the village, see internet.
There is always parking at the windmill.
They sell excellent "fire wine" , (flamed mulled wine, hot wine stronger than gluhwijn) and "oliebollen" (deep fried doughnut balls) in the old brewery and along the street nice handy crafts and at the little houses is always warm food available. For those who like more luxury, there is the tent of Rotary club selling champagne and ousters.
We will visit the Christmas market at the fresh air and inside the city hall some exhibitions the and at the basement of the old brewery we can have a final "genever" or beer.
See you all there, Susanne
