L'Olympiade Des Olympiades at Opera House
This sounds unusual and exciting. would you like to give it a try?
Reinterpreting this original libretto in their own way, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Nathalie Spinosi and Eric Oberdorff offer us a new opera of remarkable relevance.
Metastasio presented values such as loyalty, sacrifice, love, surpassing oneself, but also their inevitable reverse: fraud, forced marriages, patriarchy and the commodification of women…
Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Nathalie Spinosi and Eric Oberdorff had the brilliant idea of creating a new opera by readapting this libretto to better resonate with our world today. Sport and opera finally united!
This opera combines song, music, dance, theater, video and digital creation on stage, the vitality and resonance of which will touch all audiences, crossing generations, experienced spectators and neophytes alike.
A unique device in the world imagined by the scenographer Fabien Teigné which disrupts the architectural space of an Italian opera, thus revolutionizing the codes and relationships with the stage and the public. This work takes place both within the opera house but also across the city thanks to the journey of the Olympic flame, which allows the people of Nice to participate in the event, a unique process in an opera house in Europe.
This new work celebrates the Olympic Games with a city-wide event while being completely linked to the drama taking place on stage.
