Three crucial moments mark the life of the renowned Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda: the unexpected arrival of her mother from Nuoro, the hours before winning the world’s most prestigious award, and the moments when a doctor looks into her eyes, searching for words that won’t hurt too much. In between lies the entire life of the only Italian woman to have won the Nobel Prize in Literature. By tracing that life with warmth, the film also explores the relationship between women and literature, as well as the contemporary female condition.
