Figures in Extinction is the third and last work in the triptych of collaborations between NDT-associate choreographer Crystal Pite and award-winning Complicité theater director Simon McBurney .
Part one, which won the Protected content Dance Award for most impressive dance production, tackled the climate crisis and the extinction of hundreds of species.
Part two projected a picture of humans alienated from themselves. In the third and final part, Pite and McBurney continue to explore the self-mixed, toxic cocktail that is the age we live in, where we are both perpetrators and victims.
This is a breathtaking work of contemplation, where anxieties and aspirations surface, providing a glimmer in the gloom as to where we are potentially heading.
