Mt Longonot Hiking: "A Sheer Adventure!"

It is exciting to be back for our first in-person event!
Join this fun day trip to our most popular hike location - Mt Longonot!
Rising from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith this extinct volcano derives its name from Maasai name Oloonong’ot which means ‘Mountain with many steep ridges’.
A unique feature is the thick forest that lies within the crater floor. The crater rim provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. We expect to sight the following: Elands, Bushbucks, Zebra, Giraffe and Gazelles.
The initial 3.1Km hike trail from the gate to the crater rim takes an hour or so depending on individual pace. Some sections along this trail can be challenging. The next section involves hiking all the way round the crater rim. The entire hike takes about 5 hours while allowing for necessary rest/lunch breaks. Parts of the trail are heavily eroded and quite steep.
