Let's Go on a Day Trip
Join us on a day trip to Debre Libanos, a monastery in Ethiopia, 110kms northwest of Addis Ababa in the Oramia Region. It was founded in the 13th century and sits on a terrace between a clift and a gorge although none of the original buildings survive.
We will drive 2 hours out of Addis Ababa passing through the Entoto mountains which offer stunning views of the city stopping for photos of the landscape and people getting on with their daily work. On arrival we will visit the church and museum. Please note there is an entrance fee of around Protected content which is not included in the tour price. We will then cross a river and walk uphill for 15 minutes to visit the cave where the founder, Saint Tekeste Haymanot used to pray. We will then enjoy a late lunch of either local food (or bring your own packed lunch) with breathtaking views over the Jemma Gorge.
After lunch we take a short walk to Ras Darge Bridge (Portuguese Bridge) After crossing the bridge walk to the viewing point of the 600m waterfall. You might also see some Galada Baboons also enjoying the scenery.
Confirmation of your place is only possible through paying for the trip beforehand. The easiest way to do this is Protected content
