Floriography & Traveling Treasures
S.A.C. promotes young and emerging Thai and Southeast Asian contemporary artists. Let's spend the afternoon enjoying the current exhibitions, Floriography, and Traveling Treasures.
Floriography, by Praiya Ketkool, covers canvases with limitless lines and colors that she picked up from the everyday grass flower scenes. Beautiful flowers, are normally used as metaphors and symbols to communicate one's deepest and most intimate feelings. Ketkool is able to highlight the exquisiteness of the untold roadside stories of the grass flowers by giving something that is deemed insignificant, significant.
Traveling Treasures, by designer and artist Patipat Chaiwitesh highlights the concept of 'changes' within the area of cultural ceremony, exploring the idea between our familiarity with these objects and the alternate version of those within Chinese and Taiwanese burning cultures. Interested in the use of fire as a means to communicate culture as a form of ceremony, it becomes a medium that is used to send artificial treasures to the deceased.
