Minorities of Portuguese India / Orient Museum

This free workshop proposes to evaluate:
The presence of minorities in Portuguese India, as well as the circulation of Indian minorities within the Portuguese empire and in Portugal until more recent times;
Its definition, as well as its legal framework, and also the religious one, and its evolution over time, as well as the normative literature to which it gave rise;
The differentiation from the territorial point of view regarding the acceptance, tolerance or expulsion of minorities, and trying to explain these presences and absences;
The impact these minorities had over time in order, and at the same time identify possible individual paths; along with the debates and feelings raised by their presence, tolerance or absence in Portuguese India.
