June Event - Imre Kertész (Hungary)
We are back! Luckily the situation has improved in Vienna so we can meet again in person. Let's carry on from where have left off, with what originally would have been our March event.
This year, we have started reading books from Nobel Prize winners and our next selection was the Hungarian writer Imre Kertész and his book Fatelessness. The novel is a semi-autobiographical story about a 14-year-old Hungarian Jew's experiences in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps.
Imre Kertész won the Nobel Prize for Literature in Protected content , "for writing that upholds the fragile experience of the individual against the barbaric arbitrariness of history".
We will meet inProtected content , it has a nice garden so the weather permitting we can sit outside.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
