The Way to the Heart - 2024 French Oscar Nominee
In a romantic drama set at the end of the 19th century, Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche plays Eugénie, the famous chef of wealthy gourmet Mr. Dodin. Eugénie and Dodin share a passion for good ingredients, careful preparation methods and each other. In copper pans, a relationship between two culinary artists is brewing. To win over Eugénie, Dodin decides to do something he has never done before: he grabs a ladle and cooks dinner for his beloved.
The film primiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring of Protected content Pot-au-feu, winning Best Director, and is France's Protected content nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. Directed by Tran Ahn Hung, the film is loosely based on Marcel Rouff's classic work La Vie et la Passion de Dodin-Bouffant, which in turn was inspired by the life of the French gastronomy developer Brillat-Savarin. Chef Pierre Gagnaire, with 14 Michelin stars, is behind the film's recipes.
Optional drink with French bar appetizers after the show, or if folks are hungrier we can go for dinner.
WARNING: the film is in French with subtitles in Finnish and Swedish (I.e., NO English text).
