Dhamail Free Brit-Bangla Festival

Dhamail is a traditional musical dance form deeply rooted in British Bangladeshi culture.
Originating in Bengal centuries ago, this vibrant heritage combines song, dance, and storytelling to portray the joys and struggles of life. Traditionally performed by women during celebrations,
Dhamail is woven into the British Bangladeshi diaspora’s cultural fabric, connecting the present with its storied past.
By bringing Dhamail to the forefront, we empower underrepresented British Bangladeshi women and engage diaspora communities, fostering unity and identity across generations.
The Dhamail project is divided into three phases to ensure a holistic approach:
We’ll produce articles and oral presentations on Dhamail, delving into its historical and cultural significance.
Esteemed artists will paint and visually interpret Dhamail, complemented by audio-visual narratives, bringing this art form alive for all generations.
through live performances and exhibitions, our project will engage British Bangladeshi communities and others interested in cultural preservation.
