If you’re an expat or solo traveller wanting to explore Cape Town’s stunning landscapes, meet like-minded people, and enjoy nature safely, this hike is perfect.

We start in the shade of Kirstenbosch Gardens, where the air is cool and birdsong sets the tone. From there, the Cecelia Contour Path winds gently along the mountain’s lower slopes, offering glimpses over Constantia and the Southern Suburbs.

Next, discover Littlewood Waterfall — cascading over mossy rocks into a serene pool, perfect for a pause, photos, or a refreshing spray before the climb continues.

The trail then enters Skeleton Gorge, a dense indigenous forest filled with ferns, wildflowers, and towering trees. The path steepens, with rocks, ladders, and a trickling stream, giving a fun and safe sense of adventure.

At the top, reach Hely-Hutchinson Reservoir (“The Secret Beach”) — soft sand and calm waters tucked above the city. Rest, take photos, or even dip in. (Extra hour to the beach, but worth it!)

This isn’t just a hike — it’s a chance to connect with nature, meet fellow expats, and explore Cape Town safely and enjoyably.
