Fanfara Tirana meets Transglobal Underground (AL/UK)
With their aptly titled debut, ‘Albanian Wedding’, Fanfara Tirana demonstrated that Albanian musicians could deliver a powerful and unique take on the Balkan brass-tradition. The group quickly built up a reputation with their ecstatic concerts which brought them to major European festivals like Womad, Sziget and Roskilde - and their late night show at Roskilde Festival in Protected content in itself legendary. In Protected content Tirana teamed up with British pioneers of fusing electronic sounds and global inspirations, Transglobal Underground. This new constellation gained rave reviews and with the album ‘Kabatronics’ described by The Guardian as “a highly entertaining clash of Albanian brass and beats, with unexpected echoes of India or the Caribbean added in”. Fanfara Tirana and Transglobal Underground are currently working on new material and they are ready to create a sweaty night of wild dancing at ALICE!
