Decameron begins with the phrase: “It is human to have compassion on the afflicted”. This film moves you to deep compassion, because what it narrates is not fiction, but a shattering truth. An anti-cliche film, where Kiarostami goes beyond the boundaries of fiction to take us into the reality of human suffering, social unease, the humbles and the desperates. A touching and intense masterpiece, where the executioner becomes the victim and the victims, executioners. It is not the Court being the supreme Judge in this process, but Kiarostami itself, and the sentence can only be full of deep humanity. A wonderful tale about the misery of human beings.
Along the past activities we loved the talented artworks of Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Makhmalbaf become so a famous and popular director in Iran that a mythomaniac (Hossein Sabzian), pretending to be him making his next movie, entered in a wealthy family home, convincing them to be the protagonists of the upcoming film. A real event that becomes the starting point for Kiarostami to pay homage, with the narrative originality we are used to, to one of the greatest Iranian filmmaker and to the "Power" of cinema. When the deception is discovered, Hossein goes to court......
