Photography Quest - The Grand Mosque
A photograph simply records patterns of light, color and shade. The lighting is crucial in controlling the image and in some, if not most cases illumination may be required to give an accurate rendition of the scene or subject being captured.
This month’s photography challenge is “Going Mono”. Lighting is particularly important for monochrome photography, where there is no colour information, only the interplay of highlights and shadows. Our photography subject in this event is the beautiful Al Fateh (Grand) Mosque in Juffair which has amazing structural features to its credit. We will endeavour to capture the amazing “Austrian Chandelier” light fixtures, the amazing Fibre Glass dome or the Teakwood doors from India but in a monochrome format. We all have and even enjoy taking the regular colour photos for sure, but the challenge for us will be to capture them giving it a “mono effect”. For example, if you are taking a photo of the Austrian light fixtures, you will be challenging yourself to literally capture a source of light! The key is to then give it the monochrome “look and feel”.
That should be fun!!! :)
However, let us primarily, just have fun though. Just capture the beauty of the mosque if that is all you want to do with your camera.
No Sweat! No pun intended :)
See you all soon. “Let’s click”
Note: Please dress appropriately for entry into the Mosque. The timings for the mosque are restricted due to scheduled prayer times and opening hours so we all need to be punctual please. Thank you in advance.
