About the Film
From Emmy Award-winning director Maisie Crow and journalist-filmmaker Abbie Perrault, and produced by a powerhouse team including Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, ZURAWSKI v. TEXAS captures the heartbreaking stories of women who were denied medically necessary abortions under Texas’s strict abortion laws — and their extraordinary journey to seek justice.
The film follows Amanda Zurawski, who nearly died after being refused a life-saving abortion; Samantha Casiano, who was forced to carry a non-viable pregnancy to term; and Dr. Austin Dennard, an OBGYN who had to leave the state to obtain abortion care herself. Together, they unite with tenacious attorney Molly Duane and the Center for Reproductive Rights to challenge the state of Texas in a landmark legal case that could redefine access to reproductive healthcare across the country.
This documentary is not only a testament to resilience but also a piercing look into the human cost of abortion bans and the fierce legal battle still unfolding in their wake.
