Join us for a special screening of Kherson: Human Safari, a groundbreaking documentary from frontline war correspondent Zarina Zabrisky, co-sponsored by Human Rights Dallas and SMU Human Rights Program.
Kherson: Human Safari offers a rare look inside Ukraine’s most dangerous city during Russia’s full-scale invasion. Told through the voices of residents, artists, and survivors, the film documents Kherson’s transformation from the start of invasion and occupation to its liberation and flood, then the emergence of a new form of warfare. Drones hunt civilians, homes are razed, and entire neighborhoods become targets in what locals now call a “human safari.”
Kherson: Human Safari portrays the horrors of war, but the film’s focus is on the power of the human spirit, highlighting resilience, creativity, and hope amidst devastation.
The screening is part of a global awareness-raising campaign aimed at rallying international support to protect and save Kherson as the situation deteriorates daily.
This film exposes a harsh reality but also celebrates courage and the will to stay free.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker
