Amanda Ekery - Arabe - Book & Live Music - Mexican + Syrian

Celebrate the release of Amanda Ekery’s new album and book Árabe.
Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Amanda Ekery’s fourth full-length release, Árabe, explores the shared history and culture of Syrian and Mexican communities in Texas — a reflection of her own life, lineage, and identity.
The project includes twelve original songs alongside essays that trace the stories behind each track, touching on food, gambling, evil eyes, immigration law, biracial identity, and the complex ties between immigrant entrepreneurship and workers’ rights.
Drawing inspiration from mahrajans — Syrian homeland gatherings similar to block parties — Árabe invites audiences into a celebration of heritage, resilience, and community.
“You’ll find that the humorous, humane punctuation that exists within the quietest of Árabe’s rests and spaces have been explored by this singer, songwriter, and essayist, along with its testimonies to the truth.” – Jazz Times, Protected content
